Marissa Brown
Marissa Brown was appointed Board Member of the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency on February 26, 2024.
Marissa works as a Regional Coordinator for the New York State Senate, covering Senatorial districts across Nassau County, ranging from Long Beach to Locust Valley. Prior to her work in state government, she was a Legislative Aide with the Town of North Hempstead. As a government employee, she coordinates the logistics for events such as press conferences and donation drives, while staying informed on local issues and legislation that may impact a district.
Before returning to Long Island, Marissa served as a Soldier and Family Readiness Group leader at Fort Carson, Colorado. (SFRG’s) provide a critical link between soldiers and their families. In this role, she coordinated with the Battalion and Battery commanders, and other SFRG leaders in the affiliated unit, to promote cohesion and effective communications and support, to over 280 soldiers and their families. Her commitment to volunteerism earned her numerous awards, including the Order of Molly Pitcher. She believes that a strong community is a successful community.
Marissa won three NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse National Championships, while earing All-American honors and landing on the cover of US Lacrosse Magazine. She has also coached for local programs such as the Long Island Yellow Jackets, and Molloy University. In an effort to encourage more people of color to take on the sport of lacrosse, Marissa joined the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee, alongside her father, Ramon Mills- a LIMLF Hall of Fame honoree.
She currently resides in Port Washington with her husband Malcolm, a U.S. Army Major, and their two children: Nathaniel, and Olivia.
