Board Member

Reginald Spinello, Board Member of the Nassau County Local Economic Assistance Corporation, appointed on June 27, 2022.

From 2014-2017, Reggie served the City of Glen Cove as Mayor, Chairman of the Industrial Development Agency and the Community Development Agency.

During his four-year administration, which began at a time when Glen Cove was facing serious financial issues, he took steps to overcome a 5 million dollar budget deficit, and left office with a nearly 3 million dollar budget surplus by accomplishing some of the following:

  • Closing the deal on the redevelopment of the downtown (Village Square project) and the waterfront (Garvies Point), which Newsday, Long Island Business News and Long Island Press report (in 2018 and 2019) will bring in over $600 million to the city, the schools, the library, and the county over the next 40 years through a variety of payments, taxes, and projected new income from residents of these communities.
  • Creating over 1000 news jobs as a results of the project and attracting over 70 new businesses including AMC Movie Theatre.
  • Installed new playgrounds at Morgan Beach Park and Pryibil Beach.
  • Creating a “Senior” awareness program, where a police officer is assigned to our Senior Center to inform and protect these vulnerable residents
  • Opening the City’s first dog park, upgrading the Animal Shelter, opening the Community Garden at Big Ralph Park, and upgrading Getty Park playgrounds
  • Launching new community events including Kids Play Day, Cinema in the Streets, Merry Tree Festival, Christmas Tree Farm, and the City Holiday Marketplace

A lifelong Glen Cove resident, Reggie is a former Trustee of St. Rocco Parish, past Chairman of the Feast of St. Rocco, and a volunteer at St. Rocco Food Pantry which his wife has run for 18 years. He a member of Sons of Italy Loggia #1016 and a past Vice Chairman of the Glen Cove YMCA Board of Managers.

Prior to public service, Reggie Spinello spent 25 years in the vitamin and  pharmaceutical industry, retiring as a CEO in 2005.

Reggie attended Glen Cove public schools, graduated from Glen Cove High School, and earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Bryant University.

Currently retired, Reggie and his wife Coleen continue to work with many community groups and individuals to help address the needs and services that are vital to a thriving and growing city.
