William Rockensies
William H. Rockensies was appointed a Board Member to the Nassau County Local Economic Assistance Corporation on June 27, 2022. Mr. Rockensies is a licensed Professional Engineer, with more than 37 years of experience in designing, leading, and executing municipal infrastructure projects.
Mr. Rockensies is currently a Senior Vice President at H2M Architects & Engineers, one of Long Island’s largest multi-disciplinary A & E firms, headquartered in Melville, NY. At H2M he is the Director of their Construction Services Division, providing construction administration and inspection services to their clients.
In his former role as Commissioner of Engineering for the Town of Hempstead, NY, he managed and oversaw the daily operation of the Town Engineering Department. In his capacity as Commissioner, he led numerous multimillion dollar projects that included the Town’s annual road resurfacing and reconstruction programs, storm water drainage improvements, bulkhead replacement projects and FEMA funded New York State disaster recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. He has vast experience in working with local communities and elected officials to help attain their mutual goals of improving the quality of life for the residents.
Prior to joining the Town of Hempstead, he was a Civil Engineer in the Village of Freeport, Department of Public Works, where he worked on preparing plans and executing numerous capital projects for the Village.
Additionally, he’s a former Commissioner to the Cathedral Garden Water District and is currently Secretary to the Board.
Mr. Rockensies has served in several volunteer roles as; past president of the American Society of Civil Engineers - Long Island Branch, former board member of the Town of Hempstead Federal Credit Union, current board member of the Irish-Americans in Government, former School Board member of St. Thomas the Apostle Elementary School, current Vice-President of Mother Mary Breathe Easy, a 501(c)3 charity.
He attended Manhattan College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and then attained his license to practice as a Professional Engineer in the State of New York.
Mr. Rockensies is a life-long resident of the County of Nassau and currently resides in West Hempstead with his wife.
